Chess Club

Join the excitement of Chess Club!

Our Chess Club season runs from October to April, with weekly meetings held on Thursdays after school. The club is open to all 3rd-5th graders, and beginners can learn the fundamentals of chess in a fun and supportive environment. Intermediate players also have the opportunity to compete at regionals and the State Tournament in Portland if they qualify. 

Chess is a game that teaches important skills such as focus, patience, planning, and pattern recognition. Studies have shown that playing chess improves critical thinking skills, math abilities, and self-confidence.
